Privacy Policy
The Creature Code LLC operates the Good Hang mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it.
1. Data We Collect
Account information
When you create an account we collect your email address and a username you choose. Your email is used for authentication and account recovery only.
Location data
To show you nearby venues, the App requests your device GPS coordinates when you open the discovery feed. Precise coordinates are used in real time to find venues near you and are automatically deleted from our servers within 24 hours. We do not track your location continuously or in the background.
Ratings and interest data
When you rate a venue or select interest keywords (e.g., craft beer, live music), that data is stored to build your personal taste profile and power the venue ranking algorithm. This data is tied to your account and is not shared with third parties for advertising.
Profile information
Your profile is private by default. You can make your profile public via the Privacy settings in the App, which allows other users to see your display name, username, interest word cloud, badges, and follower counts. Your rating history (venues you have rated and your scores) is never visible to strangers - it is only visible to users you have approved as followers.
If your profile is private, other users can send you a follow request. You will be notified and can choose to approve or decline. Until you approve, the requesting user sees no additional information about you. You can change your visibility settings at any time.
Regardless of your privacy setting, your ratings contribute to the venue ranking algorithm and aggregate venue scores. This is anonymized - other users see venue scores, not which specific users rated a venue.
Device information
When you submit feedback through the App, basic device information (OS name, OS version, and app version) is included in the feedback email to help us triage issues. This information is not stored on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Data
We use the data we collect to authenticate you and maintain your account, rank nearby venues based on your personal taste profile, display your profile to other users (only if you enable this) and your rating history to approved followers only, facilitate follow requests and follower relationships between users, respond to feedback and support requests, and comply with legal obligations.
We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not build advertising profiles or share your data with ad networks.
3. Third-Party Services
Supabase
We use Supabase to store user accounts, ratings, and interest data. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit. Supabase privacy policy: supabase.com/privacy
Google Places API
Venue data is sourced from the Google Places API. Your approximate location may be used in API requests to Google to find nearby venues. Google privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
4. Data Retention
GPS coordinates are automatically deleted within 24 hours of collection. Account data, ratings, and interest data are retained as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data including ratings and interests is permanently deleted from our servers.
5. Your Rights
You can update your username and privacy settings at any time from the Settings screen in the App. You can delete your account from the Settings screen, which permanently removes all your data. For other data requests, contact us at the address below.
Depending on your location, you may have rights under applicable law (GDPR, CCPA) including the right to access, correct, or port your data. Contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
6. Children's Privacy
Good Hang is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13. Contact us if you believe we have inadvertently done so and we will delete it promptly.
7. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance.
